Chemical Dosing with Chlorine Dioxide

Chemical dosing is an important and effective part of water treatment services used to keep a water system safe and working as it should. The term chemical dosing refers to the dissolving of chemicals into a water system in order to control its composition. In terms of chemical dosing for your facility, this could mean installing a system that will introduce controlled doses of various chemicals into your water system to keep it safe and compliant.

Chemical Dosing and Temperature Control

Temperature control is one of the most important considerations when it comes to managing Legionella risk. Temperature control is important because Legionella bacteria can thrive at certain temperatures.

In pipework, for example, temperature should be set to the correct temperature and and control measures should be put in place to ensure the correct temperature is maintained in all climate conditions that may impact the pipework. The temperature of water in your pipework should be above 50°C or below 20°C. This is because water between 20-45°C is at a higher risk of developing Legionella bacteria growth.

Not only is it important to control this temperature; you should also ensure that the water remains at this temperature in extreme climate conditions, for example extremely hot weather or extremely cold weather. Biocide treatments can be used for chemical dosing to aid legionella control in these situations, where maintaining the correct temperature is required.

How long will my Chemical Dosing Project take?

The timescale of a project varies depending on each site. Your engineer will always communicate with you to let you know the expected timescale of the project and will cause as minimal disruption as possible to the day to day running of your facility.
