Project Brief

A leisure centre in Leeds had been experiencing repeated Legionella positives during routine sampling, raising serious concerns about water hygiene and safety. In response, the management team contacted Titan Mechanical Services to investigate and resolve the issue. Following a comprehensive site survey, our engineers identified several concealed dead legs that had been left behind during internal building modifications completed the previous year. These redundant sections of pipework had become a breeding ground for stagnation, contributing to the ongoing Legionella risk.

Solution

Our full turnkey proposal included:​

• Targeted Dead Leg Removal: Our team carried out extensive removal of redundant pipework across the site. These hidden dead legs were located, isolated, and removed to restore proper water circulation. The removals significantly reduced stagnation, improving system hygiene and flow throughout the building.

• Overnight Working Schedule: With the site operating from 7am to 11pm daily, all works were completed overnight to avoid any disruption to gym users, swimming facilities, or staff. This required close coordination with the site team and detailed planning to ensure safety and efficiency during out-of-hours access.
