Unvented Water Heater Replacements London
Replacement of Unvented Water Heaters for a Residential Care Home Group in London
Project Brief
A large residential care home group operating across London had raised concerns following several recent PPM inspections and Legionella risk assessments. At one of their sites, a number of non-compliances had been identified relating to the hot water system. The site relied on point-of-use water heaters, many of which were over 20 years old. These ageing units no longer met current standards for hygiene or energy efficiency. Titan Mechanical Services was engaged to carry out a full system survey and provide a solution to upgrade the heaters to modern, compliant, unvented water heaters.
Solution
Our full turnkey proposal included:
-
Full System Survey: Our engineers carried out a detailed assessment of all water heaters on site. Each unit was inspected for operational performance, safety features, and compliance with current standards.
-
Carefully Scheduled Installations: As the site was an active residential care facility, all works were scheduled in close coordination with the care team to ensure zero disruption to residents. Quiet hours and non-peak usage times were selected for all engineering activities.
-
Qualified Installers and Full Upgrades: Each water heater was replaced with a modern, energy-efficient unvented unit. This included the removal of the existing heater, installation of all associated pipework and valves, and fitting of new expansion vessels. All works were carried out by engineers qualified in unvented systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
-
Compliance and Efficiency Focused: All installations were delivered in line with ACOP L8 and relevant water safety guidance. System efficiency and Legionella risk reduction were key considerations in every upgrade.
Key Benefits Delivered
-
Minimal Disruption: The works were completed with no impact on residents’ daily routines, thanks to carefully timed scheduling and considerate on-site practice.
-
Improved Temperature Profiles: The new water heaters delivered reliable and consistent hot water temperatures, significantly reducing the risk of Legionella proliferation.
-
Reduced Energy Costs: Upgrading to modern, efficient heaters allowed the client to reduce ongoing energy consumption and improve the site’s sustainability credentials.
